Frequently asked questions

Does the camera test record or store anything?

No. The video stream is attached directly to a preview element and dropped when you stop the test. Nothing is written to disk or sent anywhere, and the browser shows its own recording indicator the whole time.

Why does a test need permission every time?

Camera, microphone and screen access are permission-gated by the browser, and a site cannot silently keep them. Granting access is per-origin and revocable from the padlock icon in the address bar at any point.
