Online Voice Recorder — Record Audio in Your Browser

Record voice notes or audio from your microphone and download the file. No account, no upload.

To record audio in your browser, allow microphone access, press record and speak. The audio is encoded by MediaRecorder as Opus in a WebM container — or AAC in MP4 on Safari — and saved straight to your device. Nothing is uploaded, so voice notes and interviews never touch a server.

Frequently asked questions

What format is the recording?

Opus audio in a WebM container on Chrome, Edge and Firefox; AAC in MP4 on Safari. Opus is the better codec for voice — it stays clean at bitrates where MP3 sounds obviously compressed — and every modern player handles it. Convert to MP3 afterwards if a specific tool demands it.

Can I record a phone call or system audio?

Not from a microphone tool. Browsers only expose microphone input here; capturing what your computer is playing requires the screen recorder with audio sharing enabled, and capturing a phone call is not something a browser can do at all.

Is my recording uploaded anywhere?

No. The audio chunks are collected in the page, assembled into a blob and handed to your browser's download mechanism. Closing the tab discards them — there is nowhere else for them to go.
