Why would I shuffle text?

To randomise a question order, produce a fair draw from a list, or generate test data where the content is realistic but the order carries no signal. The character mode also produces the readable-scrambled-word effect.

What does the seed do?

It makes the shuffle reproducible. The same seed and input always give the same order, and because the seed travels in the page URL, a shared link recreates the exact result someone else saw.
