Frequently asked questions

Why does reversing text sometimes break emoji?

Because reversing by character splits sequences that must stay together — a flag is two regional indicators, and a family emoji is several code points joined by zero-width joiners. Reversing those produces different symbols or replacement boxes.

What is the difference between reversing characters and words?

Reversing characters turns "hello world" into "dlrow olleh". Reversing words keeps each word intact and flips their order, giving "world hello". They are different operations and rarely interchangeable.
