Pig Latin Translator

Convert English to Pig Latin and back, with both the classic and consonant-cluster rules.

Pig Latin moves the opening consonant sound of each word to the end and adds "ay"; words starting with a vowel take "way" instead. This translator handles both directions and offers the two common rules — moving the entire consonant cluster, or only the first letter.

Frequently asked questions

Why is translating back sometimes wrong?

Because the transformation loses information. "Ingstray" could come from "string" or "stringy" — the rule does not record how many letters moved. The decoder assumes the longest trailing consonant run, which is right most of the time but not always.
