Frequently asked questions

Why do my formulas show as values?

Excel stores both the formula and its last-calculated result, and the result is what belongs in a PDF. If a cell shows blank, the workbook was saved without cached values — open and re-save it in Excel and the results will be there.

Are number and date formats preserved?

Not in this version. Dates are stored as serial numbers in the file and appear as those numbers; currency and percentage formatting is stored separately from the value. Where formatting matters, add a helper column with TEXT() before converting.

What happens with a very wide sheet?

Columns are given equal width and text that does not fit is truncated with an ellipsis rather than overlapping. Anything wider than eight columns switches automatically to landscape, and beyond about fifteen columns a PDF is the wrong destination — export to CSV instead.
