Summarise Text On Your Device

Condense an article into a few sentences with a summarisation model running locally — nothing uploaded, no limit.

This summariser runs DistilBART, an abstractive summarisation model, in your browser. It writes new sentences that condense the source rather than extracting existing ones, handles long input by splitting on paragraph boundaries and summarising section by section, and never uploads your text. Being abstractive, it can occasionally state something the source did not — check figures and names.

Frequently asked questions

Can it invent facts?

Yes. Abstractive summarisation generates new sentences, and generated sentences can contain details the source did not support — dates, numbers and names are the usual casualties. Check anything you plan to rely on against the original.

Why is it weaker than ChatGPT at this?

Size. The larger option here is about 900 MB and was trained specifically on news summarisation; a frontier model is hundreds of times larger and reads the whole document at once. What these give you instead is no upload, no key and no limit.
