Frequently asked questions

Is this a real SVG or a PNG in an SVG wrapper?

A real one. Every line becomes a positioned <text> element at its original coordinates, size, weight and slant, so the file scales infinitely and the words can be selected and searched. Converters that wrap a raster in an <image> tag produce a file that is SVG in name only.

What is missing?

Vector artwork the PDF draws as paths — rules, borders, logos, charts — is not carried across, and neither are embedded photographs. Text is. For a page where the artwork is the point, PDF to PNG at 4× is the better tool.
