Google Play Screenshot Generator — Phone, Tablet, TV & Wear
Create Google Play listing screenshots with captions and device frames at every accepted size.
To make Google Play screenshots, add your app captures, write one caption per line and export at 1080 × 1920 for phones plus the tablet sizes your listing needs. Play requires between 2 and 8 screenshots per device type, each 320–3840px per side with an aspect ratio no wider than 2:1 — every preset here is inside those limits.

The sizes Google Play actually asks for
Play does not hand you one fixed screenshot resolution. It gives a range and two constraints, and every conventional size people quote is simply a point inside that range. The graphics that do have exact dimensions are the feature graphic and the app icon.
| Asset | Dimensions | Format | How many |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phone screenshot | 320px to 3840px on each side, and the longer side no more than twice the shorter | JPEG or 24-bit PNG, no alpha | At least 2 across device types, up to 8 per type |
| Tablet screenshot | The same limits as phone | JPEG or 24-bit PNG, no alpha | Up to 8 per device type |
| Feature graphic | 1024 x 500 | JPEG or 24-bit PNG, no alpha | One |
| App icon | 512 x 512 | 32-bit PNG with alpha, up to 1024 KB | One |
Picking a screenshot size
1080 x 1920 is a convention rather than a rule, and it is a safe one. 1080 x 2340 matches the 9:19.5 ratio of most current Android hardware, so the image fills the device preview without letterboxing, and it is still comfortably inside the two-to-one limit. Anything taller than 2:1 is rejected outright, which is the trap for people exporting a long scrolling capture.
Uploading tablet screenshots matters beyond the tablet listing itself: Play uses the presence of large-screen assets when deciding whether to surface an app to tablet, foldable and Chromebook users. If the app runs well on a large screen, exporting the 7-inch and 10-inch sets costs one extra click here.
What the first two slides have to do
- Most people never swipe. The first two screenshots are what appear in search results, so neither should be a login screen or an empty state.
- Captions are read before the image is parsed. One short claim per slide beats a sentence describing the interface.
- Text inside a device frame shrinks twice: once for the frame, once for the store thumbnail. Set caption text well above the size that looks right at full resolution.
- The screenshots must represent the real app. Framing, backgrounds and captions are expected; features the app does not have are a policy problem, not a design one.
The other two listing graphics have their own tools: the feature graphic generator draws the 1024 x 500 banner, and the app icon generator produces the 512px store icon alongside the launcher ladder.
