Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The document is parsed and converted by JavaScript running in this tab. It never touches the network, which you can confirm in your browser's network panel.

Why is the output empty?

The PDF is a scan — an image of a page with no text underneath. Nothing can be extracted from it without OCR, which is a separate process. The tool says so rather than handing back an empty file.
