Binary to Text Converter

Translate text into binary ones and zeros, and decode binary back into readable text.

To convert text to binary, paste your text and each byte becomes eight ones and zeros. Decoding strips any spacing and rebuilds the original UTF-8 string, so accented characters and emoji — which use several bytes each — survive the conversion.

Frequently asked questions

Why does binary text use eight digits per character?

Because a byte is eight bits, and ASCII fits in one byte. Non-ASCII characters take two to four bytes in UTF-8, so they appear as several eight-bit groups rather than one.
