### What makes a username safe to reuse?

Not containing anything identifying. A handle that combines a real name with a birth year links every account using it, and those links are exactly what credential-stuffing and social engineering rely on.

### Why do some sites reject my username?

Usually reserved words, length limits, or characters that would be ambiguous in a URL. Many also block sequences that could impersonate staff — anything containing "admin" or "support" is commonly refused.
