### What kinds of damage can actually be repaired?

Structural damage — a broken cross-reference table, wrong object offsets, a missing trailer, a file that was appended to incorrectly. These are common and usually fully recoverable. What cannot be repaired is missing data: a download that stopped halfway has no page content to rebuild from.

### Why does my repaired file have fewer pages?

Pages whose content stream is unreadable are skipped rather than producing a file that fails again on opening. The result tells you which page numbers were dropped, so you know exactly what is missing rather than discovering it later.
