# PDF Form Builder — Add Fillable Fields to Any PDF

> Place real text fields and checkboxes onto a PDF so other people can fill it in.

To turn a flat PDF into a form other people can fill in, drag text fields and checkboxes onto the page where each answer belongs and give them names. The result is a real AcroForm — the same interactive form Acrobat produces — so it can be completed in any PDF reader, in a browser, or with the Fill PDF Forms tool here. Field appearances are generated as the form is built, which is the step most tools skip and the reason a filled form so often saves blank.

## FAQ

### Why do field names matter?

The name is how anything reading the completed form identifies the answer — your own script, a database import, or the Fill PDF Forms tool. Two fields sharing a name means one answer overwrites the other, so duplicates are rejected rather than silently accepted.

### Should I lock the fields?

Not on the form you send out — flattening turns the fields into fixed page content and nobody can fill it in. Locking belongs at the other end, once the form comes back completed.

### Can I add dropdowns or radio buttons?

Not yet — text fields and checkboxes cover the large majority of forms. Dropdowns and radio groups need an option list per field, which is a different editing surface rather than another drag.
