# Open Graph Preview — See Your Link on Facebook, X, LinkedIn and Slack

> Render your share card the way each platform really draws it, with the og:image measured.

To preview a link's social card, enter a URL and the card is rendered as Facebook, X, LinkedIn and Slack will each actually draw it — at their real proportions and truncation limits, so a title that gets clipped here gets clipped there. The og:image is fetched and measured rather than taken on trust, because the commonest broken card is not a missing tag but an image of the wrong shape or below the 600-pixel minimum.

## Key facts

- **Privacy:** Uses a server — the address you enter is sent to perform the lookup
- **Previews:** Four platforms at their real card proportions
- **Image:** Dimensions and weight measured, not assumed
- **Caching:** Fetched fresh; platforms cache separately
- **Cost:** Free, unlimited, no sign-up

## How to use

1. Enter the URL you are about to share.
2. Compare the four rendered cards for cropping and truncation.
3. Fix anything the audit flags, starting with the image.
4. Re-scrape on each platform to clear its own cache.

## FAQ

### I updated my tags but the old preview still shows.

Facebook, LinkedIn and X each cache scraped metadata for days. This page always fetches fresh, so it will disagree with them until you force a re-scrape using their own tools — the Facebook Sharing Debugger, LinkedIn Post Inspector or the X Card Validator.

### What size should the og:image be?

1200 × 630 pixels is the safe standard. It satisfies the 1.91:1 ratio the cards are laid out for and stays above the 600-pixel minimum below which most networks drop to a small thumbnail instead of the large card. This page measures your actual image and says which of those it fails.

### Why does my card look different on each platform?

Because each one crops and truncates differently — X cuts titles around 70 characters, Facebook around 88, and Slack uses a squarer image area. The four previews here use those real limits, so what you see clipped is what will be clipped.

### Do I need both Open Graph and Twitter Card tags?

Not usually. X falls back to Open Graph when Twitter Card tags are absent, so the one worth adding on its own is twitter:card set to summary_large_image — without it you get a small square thumbnail rather than the wide card.

### Why does the audit mention og:image:alt?

Because the card image is invisible to anyone using a screen reader without it, and it is a single extra tag. Platforms read it out in place of the image.
