To convert an image to ASCII art, add a picture and set the output width in characters. Each cell is sampled for brightness and mapped onto a character ramp, with the aspect ratio corrected because text characters are about twice as tall as they are wide.

## How to use

### What makes a good source image for ASCII art?

High contrast and a clear subject. ASCII has perhaps ten distinguishable brightness levels against an image's 256, so subtle gradients disappear — a silhouette works far better than a detailed photograph.
