# Image Metadata & EXIF Viewer

> Inspect EXIF data, camera settings, GPS coordinates and dimensions inside an image.

To view image metadata, add a photo and its EXIF data is read locally, including camera model, lens, shutter speed, aperture, ISO and any embedded GPS coordinates. Nothing is uploaded, which matters because EXIF often reveals exactly where a photo was taken.

## FAQ

### Why does my photo contain GPS coordinates?

Most phones record the exact location a photo was taken into its EXIF data by default. Sharing the original file therefore shares your location, often to metre-level accuracy.

### How do I remove EXIF data?

Use the EXIF remover tool. Re-encoding an image through a canvas discards all metadata, which is exactly what that tool does.
