# Crop a PDF — Trim Margins and Scanned Edges

> Trim the margins of every page, or just the pages you choose, without re-rendering.

To crop a PDF, set how much to trim from each edge as a percentage, in millimetres or in points. The crop box is adjusted rather than the content re-rendered, so text stays selectable and file size is unchanged — and because the content is hidden rather than deleted, the crop is fully reversible.

## FAQ

### Is cropped content actually removed from the file?

No. A PDF crop sets the CropBox, which tells readers what area to display; the content outside it is still in the file and can be recovered by resetting the box. If you need text genuinely gone — a redaction — cropping is not the tool, and neither is drawing a black rectangle over it.

### Why does my crop look different in another PDF reader?

A few readers honour the MediaBox rather than the CropBox, particularly older print drivers. Most current viewers and browsers use the CropBox, which is what this sets.
